Buried

She got married at eighteen, honey.
Was paralyzed by fear.
She never knew that she was running
From the pains of yesteryear.

Everything is a new beginning,
But some are already done.
When the script is written,
The vows are said,
And where will you run.

He got lost, so he kept on running,
The needle took him by surprise.
Broke his hand on a stained glass mirror,
And the fire blew out in his eyes.

Everything is a new beginning
But let it be won’t let it go.
With prescriptions written,
The newly addicted
Blow off into their smoke.

Some may die in the ocean.
Others go up in flames.
Some will give their lives away,
So that we remember their names.

But then there are still those,
Who we never knew were here.
They fade out like the ocean,
And are buried without a tear.
